Release of version 5.1! (New Logo, Critters, new Death handling, Frigid Bluffs rework and more!)


A new update is here with a LOT of changes/fixes and more content!

new in v5.1:

  • new "bootup" sequence
  • new logo/icon for the game!
  • new holiday themed costume for Zera/Kiwi, "Chrimis"
  • redone classic mode visual effects
  • redone death animation/transition/sped up respawning for Zera
  • unique level specific relics added for Dreary Valley and Mystic Towers
  • "common" relic shapes no longer used, only level specific ones!
  • reworked/added to Frigid Bluffs level mesh!
  • implemented Critters (for now just in Cosmic Core, Mystic Towers and Crystal Rift), creatures that only spawn in areas of levels where the enemies have been defeated! They serve as a marker of your progress, and are also very bouncy (and you can even bounce off of them)! Each level, including the hub has their own unique Critter, and eventually these will be an objective for 100%ing levels!
  • reworked balloon mechanics so it's significantly less awkward to use now and feels just like bouncing off a container
  • bouncing off of enemies has been adjusted to work similarly to the new balloon mechanics
  • you can now bounce off the dead bodies of your foes before they disappear!
  • falling now lets you somersault out of it, but it also now remembers if you were gliding previously, allowing you to flap out of it first if you were, this should help give people a bit more leeway when performing aerial feats!
  • changed all of the dialogue in Mystic Towers
  • changed some dialogue in Cosmic Core, Frigid Bluffs, and Crystal Rift
  • reordered the levels, Dreary Valley is now the first level, with Crystal Rift second, Mystic Towers third, and Frigid Bluffs remaining the fourth
  • adjusted bouncing off of objects for Zera so that there's a bit of a center point she "snaps" toward, to help keep things consistent
  • adjusted slope maximums to help Zera avoid bonking on random polygons as often
  • adjusted coyote time slightly
  • adjusted momentum from Zera's actions
  • increased deadzone for controllers slightly
  • changed zera's collider to a sphere collider instead of a custom mesh one
  • fixed occasional clipping through the ground where bits of the world extend below the surfaces you walk on
  • fixed missing lava "smoke" particles in Dreary Valley
  • fixed smoke particles on Snappies that weren't being left behind but instead just clouding around their feet when being chased
  • fixed a pool of lava that didn't damage the player in Dreary Valley
  • fixed a bug that allowed inputs to go through the pause menu
  • fixed a bug that allowed the player to jump out of the forced walking that occurs when initiating dialogue with an NPC
  • fixed not being able to exit out of the base pause menu and resume the game with anything other than actually pressing resume
  • fixed a bug that was introduced in 5.0 that allowed you to instantly flap when starting to glide if you were already holding the button to flap
  • potentially fixed a black screen bug that could happen on Linux versions of the game
